Lovrečina Bay is a beach located close to the town Postira on the island Brač in Croatia. The beach is located in the north of Brač island. Lovrečina Bay is located in a more or less remote setting but is easily reachable. The Lovrečina beach is a sandy beach with shallow water, making it a popular destination for families with kids.
Nearby the beach you can also find the remains of an early Christian Basilica (Arheološko nalazište Lovrečina). The ruins of the church are about 100 meters away from the beach.
Going to Lovrečina Bay on the Island Brač in Croatia
During our road trip through Croatia, the island Brač would be our first visit. Yesterday we arrived in Croatia and drove to Split to stay the night there. In the morning we took one of the first ferries from Split to the town Supetar on the island Brač.
As we left very early, we didn’t eat breakfast yet, so we stopped in the supermarket to buy some food. After stopping at the supermarket, we drove for about 30 minutes to Lovrecina Bay. We parked our car on the side of the main road (here), where the narrow road down to the beach started. From there we hiked down the road to Lovrečina Bay beach.
We didn’t know at the time of our visit, but you can also drive down the road and park in the parking lot next to the beach (location here). The parking price is about 20 kn (€2.70 / $3.30) for a full day, so it isn’t expensive.
Lovrečina Bay Beach
As we arrived early in the morning (9:30 AM), the beach was very calm. In fact, we were the only people at the beach. We sat down at the beach and ate our breakfast with a gorgeous view of the sea and the mountains of Central Dalmatia on the horizon. It was breakfast with a wonderful view.
After our breakfast on the beach, we went for a swim. It’s a sandy beach, so it’s comfortable to swim. Except for the first meters, there you still have some rocks, but once you pass those, it’s really nice. The water is shallow, so it’s really peaceful and enjoyable.
When we were swimming in Lovrečina Bay, we also saw some other people arriving. It was around 11 AM. So if you want to enjoy a quiet breakfast at the beach, before 11 AM it is very calm. At least it was so in September. I assume in July and August it will be busier.
Next to the beach, there is also a bar (Lovrečina Beach Bar) where you can buy food and drinks. When we were at Lovrečina Bay, the bar wasn’t open. I’m not sure if we were too early? Or maybe the bar is only open in the summer months and the season was already over. So best to check in advance.
Roman Basilica Ruins at Lovrečina Bay
Close to the beach you can find some ruins of a 6th-century basilica. The ruins are from an old Roman basilica (Early Christian Basilica). It’s only a few 100 meters from the beach, so worth a short visit.
After we visited the ruins, we hiked back up the road to our car and continued our day. Next up on our schedule would be to hike to the top of the Vidova Gora, a mountain from which you have a nice view of the town of Bol and Zlatni Rat beach.
Thanks fo the info about the parking lot. I did not see it on my map. We will try it soon.
